Aerospace Mall
A directory built around the aviation audience
Aerospace Mall brought several branches of the aviation industry into one web presentation. My assignment was to develop a home-page design from the marketing director's requirements and concepts. The original screen shows how that brief became a recognizable entrance to a directory, with the main categories arranged around a central Aerospace Mall identity.
The design had to give a broad subject a clear visual structure. Commercial aircraft, general aviation, rotary aircraft, and military aircraft each receive a distinct entry point. Supplier information, services, corporate profiles, industry news, and search sit alongside those categories. This makes the opening screen both an introduction and a navigation tool.
A central identity with visible choices
The diamond-shaped center establishes the name before the reader chooses a direction. Metallic lettering and compact navigation buttons give the interface a visual connection to its aerospace subject. The arrangement keeps the different categories visible together, so visitors can recognize the directory's breadth without reading a long opening explanation.
Web-banner design was also part of the original assignment. The work shows the relationship between a compact brand treatment and a larger home-page composition: the identity needs to remain recognizable while the surrounding layout provides more room for navigation.
An original web-design artifact
The archived home-page image below preserves the actual design and its period interface. It is presented as a historical portfolio example. The aircraft-carrier featured cover is a later portfolio presentation; the original screen documents the website work itself.
This project is a useful example of designing from a specific marketing brief. The central task was to translate the requested concepts into a coherent opening screen with a clear name, organized choices, and a visual character suited to the audience.
