Brain Buckets
A paintball product with a complete visual identity
Brain Buckets began with Bill Handel's paintball product idea. My archived project notes document work on product design and production, packaging, marketing materials, logos, 3D models, and the website. This was a connected product-presentation assignment: the object, the explanation, and the brand had to work together.
The original artwork puts a distinctive helmet-like shell at the center of the identity. Red lettering, a skull motif, and dark backgrounds create an energetic visual language appropriate to the paintball audience. The packaging strip keeps the product name prominent, while the product sheet provides room for a much more detailed explanation.
Showing the object and explaining the details
The technical illustrations label the foam pads, mounting points, and chin strap. Those details give the reader something concrete to examine. Instead of relying entirely on a dramatic logo, the materials show how the product was arranged and how its components related to one another.
The product photography and illustrated views serve different purposes. A product view establishes the overall shape; a labeled view explains its parts. Together they support the packaging and website with information that a prospective customer or dealer could use to understand the original product concept.
Packaging, motion, and an early product website
The original website included product information, data sheets, frequently asked questions, ordering information, and dealer content. That structure connected the promotional identity to the practical questions around the product. The animated skull artwork adds a moving brand element and preserves another part of the original digital presentation.
The gallery brings these pieces together as a historical design case study. Statements printed in the old collateral reflect its original marketing language; they are not presented here as current safety certifications or instructions for choosing protective equipment. The focus is the creative work: product visualization, explanatory artwork, packaging, and a recognizable paintball identity.
