Carl Taylor’s Silk Road
A website for an expedition with a story to tell
Carl “Cully” Taylor's project centered on a planned journey along the Silk Road. My original portfolio includes the expedition website, built around the route, the preparation, and the story of the traveler. The subject called for a visual identity that could introduce an adventure while giving visitors a way to follow its different parts.
The archived screen makes the title the central visual entrance. A textured sign treatment and warm colors give the name an expedition character. The navigation sits beside it in a vertical sequence, connecting the opening presentation with the supporting sections.
Introducing the journey and organizing the details
An expedition website needs to carry both atmosphere and information. The opening screen introduces the subject, while the navigation creates a route into the travel material. The design gives those functions separate places: a distinctive title for recognition and a consistent set of choices for exploration.
The original website image below preserves that arrangement and its period web presentation. The case study documents a site for the planned expedition; it does not infer a completed itinerary or travel outcome that the surviving project record does not establish.
This is a focused example of translating a personal undertaking into a public-facing website. The name, setting, introductory copy, and navigation work together to give the project a recognizable home.
