Metamorphics project cover

Metamorphics

Metamorphics is part of Gibson Elliot's engineering and invention work within American Mechatronic Corporation. The project's development brief describes a platform based on shape-memory materials and conformal actuators, with applications imagined across several product concepts. My contribution is the branding and communication around that unfamiliar technical subject.

Give an unfamiliar idea a recognizable identity

A technology name has to become something a reader can recognize. The original Metamorphics identity below provides that visual anchor within the larger AMC product family. It gives the concept its own presence while remaining connected with the organization behind it.

The communication task is to introduce the idea in layers: establish the name, explain the broad subject, and connect it with the proposed applications described in the development materials. That sequence helps a visitor find an entry point without requiring an engineering background.

Part of a larger development story

The AMC brief connects Metamorphics with concepts including a synthetic pollinator, a proposed first-responder suit, and adjustable wearable components. These are development descriptions from the project materials. They explain the range of the company's ideas and the context in which the visual identity was created.

Within a broad invention portfolio, the brand has a practical organizing role. It helps identify a particular technology branch and provides a consistent reference across the supporting material. That relationship matters when one company is presenting several concepts with different names and purposes.
