Sound and Shape

A website for an eclectic progressive metal band

Sound and Shape is a website project for a Tennessee band whose eclectic progressive-metal direction called for a distinctive visual presentation. The original portfolio preserves the site screen, with the band's name becoming the dominant graphic element in the opening view.

The lettering is tightly integrated with its surrounding shapes rather than treated as a generic heading. That gives the name a visual character of its own. The muted background image provides a setting, while the dark frame lets the central identity take attention.

An opening screen with direct routes into the band

The archived website includes visible choices for contact, calendar, biography, pictures, music, videos, and MySpace. Those routes reflect the different reasons a visitor may arrive: learn about the band, find an appearance, explore media, visit its social page, or get in touch.

The design places those practical choices around a clear visual entrance. The name establishes recognition; the navigation gives that recognition somewhere to go. The original screenshot below shows how those parts were arranged in the period site.

The documented website presentation

This case study preserves the actual website artwork and its original structure. The current featured image gives the project a consistent place in the visual gallery, while the archived screen documents the web presentation itself.

The work is a focused example of connecting an expressive band identity with usable navigation. The visual treatment introduces the character of the project, and the visible media and information routes support the visitor's next step.
