The Savvy Minstrels
Two performances, recorded with a compact setup
I recorded two songs with The Savvy Minstrels: Step on the Cracks, identified in my original notes as an original song, and Ain’t Nobody’s Dirty Business, a cover performance. The session used Pro Tools, a few plug-ins, and four microphones. The surviving audio gives this project a direct listening component alongside the portfolio's visual work.
A small microphone setup makes placement and balance important. The recording assignment centers on capturing the performance and bringing the tracks together in the session, with the available tools serving the musicians and the material.
Listen to the original recordings
The two players below use the original files preserved with the project. Step on the Cracks appears as the original recorded track. Ain’t Nobody’s Dirty Business is explicitly identified as a rough mix, following the original portfolio notes. Keeping that distinction visible gives the listener the right context for what they are hearing.
This project documents recording work rather than an inferred commercial album release. The original session notes establish the songs, the software, and the four-microphone setup; the audio files preserve the actual listening examples.
Sound as the portfolio evidence
For an audio project, the performance is the central artifact. The page gives the recordings room to be heard without adding unrelated imagery or a long list of unverified production claims. The featured cover provides the project's visual identity in the gallery, while the players carry the substance of the recording work.
